The Wright papers comprise both professional and family correspondence, articles, scientific materials, Yale College material and asorted memorabilia and biographical and genealogical materials. The letters written from Wright to his wife while he was on scientific expeditions or attending scientific conferences are a valuable source of information on the physicist's activities.

This collection consists entirely of letters written to Asa Gray with the exception of a memoir abqut Gray written by William Gilson Farlow. The letters are arranged alphabetieally by the name of the writer of the letter. Most of the letters pertain to the subject of botany.
