Writings (3.75 linear ft.) are arranged in seven sections: articles and columns, book reviews, books, diaries, panels and symposia, research files, and television. Material is arranged alphabetically within each section. The series consists of notes, drafts, some manuscript copies, and typescripts of Max Lerner's published and unpublished writings, some transcripts of his participation in conferences and symposia, and his research files and working notes. There are also several diaries, including a "nine-month journal of adventures of ideas in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe;" diary entries on Lerner's trips to Rome and India; and diary descriptions of his dreams.
