The accession consists of correspondence, diaries, topical files, newspaper clippings, photographs, and scrapbooks documenting several members of the Whitney and Cushing families. The papers were maintained by the Whitney family separately from the papers in Series I-V and are of a more personal nature. The material in the accession primarily relates to Betsey Cushing Whitney, John Hay Whitney, Harvey Cushing, and Kate Crowell Cushing. While some of the papers supplement Series I-V, the majority of the papers in the accession substantively enhance the documentation on the personal lives of Betsey Cushing Whitney, both before and during her marriage to John Hay Whitney, and her parents, Harvey Cushing and Kate Crowell Cushing.
