This series comprises three kinds of notes kept by Syz: autobiographical sketches, topical notes and reading excerpts. Syz's autobiographical notes contain introspective commentaries on his research, events in the Lifwynn community and his family life. The topical notes and excerpts are more directly related to his writings, and carbon copies from these files can be found among the notes and drafts of many papers in Series III. The collection of reading excerpts consists primarily of quotations from and summaries of books and articles, and are rarely accompanied by critique or commentary.
