Series II, Writings, is divided into two subseries. The first, Books, is arranged alphabetically by title. Under title, folders are arranged according to the development of the manuscript, with separate drafts and stages noted. Many drafts contain variant pages, duplicate pages and additions. These have been preserved in the order in which they were received. The second subseries, Shorter Works, is arranged alphabetically by title.
