Wallace P. Rowe (1926-1983) was a pioneer in clinical virology, "internationally known for his research on the molecular biology and genetics of tumor viruses and recombinant DNA." He had lectured in the post-graduate course in clinical virology at Yale since 1966. A clinical virology symposium was held honoring him on September 15, 1983. An annual lecture series at Yale was established in his name in 1985 with funding by the Vicks Research Center, Shelton, Conn. Hsiung played a major role in founding the lecture seies and she introduced the earliest lecturers.
