This series comprises notes and photographs related to field research. Grant proposals and reports are also included in this series as it outlines goals of research and some findings. While there are notes clearly pertaining to specific topics such as the Sandbox projects and Hubbard Brook, the majority of the notes are located in small notebooks and small notepads that are labeled chronologically. Photographs document different research sites, the landscape, plants, and animals of different biomes, and rocks and minerals. A significant number of these photographs are 35 millimeter slides. Folders of these slides are labeled with the name listed on the original slide box; the sleeves housing the slides have further labeling of the photographs' subjects. Grant proposals and reports are mainly for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. There are also a few for Yale University and the University of Vermont. Materials are arranged alphabetically.
