The first subseries, Numbered Sermons, holds texts numbered from 1 to 1179. Generally, and with only few exceptions, the enumeration follows a chronological order determined by the date of composition. Sermons numbered 1-513 are organized chronologically, and were bound singly or in pairs. These pairs seem to have been conceived as one longer sermon, the first part to be preached in the morning, the second in the afternoon; however, they do have separate numbers. Sermons numbered 513-1179 were copied into booklets with four to eight sermons in each. These booklets often have a theme, and while the chronological order is kept within the booklets, it varies overall due to this thematical ordering. Many booklets do not have a title and their nature is still to be determined. Recurring categories are: "Sacramental," "Funeral Discourses," Thanksgiving sermons, Fasting sermons, and New Year sermons.
