This collection contains over 200 bookplates by British designer and etcher George W. Eve (1855-1914). Most of these bookplates are documented in A Descriptive Catalogue of the Bookplates Designed and Etched by George W. Eve, R.E., authored by George H. Viner and published in 1916. Given his background and expertise in heraldry, most of Eve's bookplates are armorial designs, although several fine pictorial designs, such as library interiors and maritime scenes, are also included.
