Letters from and to Davenport's friends and associates. With the exception of a handful of original signed letters by him, which were subsequently returned by the recipient, his side of the correspondence consists mainly of carbon copies, which he retained in his own file. Some of the folders contain nothing but Davenport's carbons, with no incoming letters from the correspondent concerned.
