The date of the series is established by a letter from Annie Lewis to Moreau Delano dated May 1, 1936, that was written on a series of photographic postcards of Cowles House exteriors and interiors; in the letter Lewis writes that she had just received the cards she commissioned from Chamberlain, and is "mad about them."
