Schenker's grandfather had a poultry farm in Bex (Switzerland) and André came with his family for a few years to live there with his grandfather. They arrived in 1907 and André was in the village school for severall years before being homeschooled beginning in 1911 until traveling to the United Statesd from 1911 was home schooled. Correspondence from Schenker to friends at the Bex (Switzerland) local YMCA (Union chretienne des jeunes gens) in which he discusses his life in the Connecticut Agricultural College. Other letters describes his return from Switzerland, Wallingford (CT) and a football game between Yale and Havard in New Haven.
