Nathaniel Morton stone, 1776, Plymouth, MA, slate. Portratit stone showing effigy of deceased appearing over a brick tomb. A very unusual theme in New England. I have seen only one other example in the Sharon Connecticut area, and another variant much changed in Paxton, MA. The design may have been derived from a broadside.
