The earliest correspondence (1940-1946) relates chiefly to the Wat family's exile in Kazakhstan. The bulk of the correspondence dates from the late 1950s to 1967 and documents Aleksander Wat's emigration, editorial work and publication projects. Other correspondence, such as that with Wat's sister Seweryna Broniszówna and other family members, is of a more personal nature. Correspondence after 1967, as well as the Paulina Wat Correspondence, is chiefly related to the posthumous publication of Aleksander Wat's work. Correspondence is incoming, unless otherwise noted.
