The largest group is made up of over sixty letters written to him by his mother, Anne Seymour Robinson, while he was at Yale College (1850-1853) and which reflect on events and activities at the college. Other correspondents are Mary Caroline Robinson Shipman and Lewis Ledyard Weld.

This collection has been divided into two series: the genealogical research of Clara Beckley (Box 1) and the primary sources she gathered related to her family’s iron foundries (Box 2). Within each box, folders have been arranged alphabetically according to the type of document and main focus of the material. Within each folder the documents are arranged chronologically. If the date of production could not be ascertained, the documents were then placed in the back of the folder.

Finally, the collection contains phonograph albums of radio broadcasts.

The principal figure is Mary E. Dallaher, a school teacher, who wrote a series of letters to her family while studying music in various convents in France between 1875 and 1879. Additional family correspondence includes letters to Mary Dallaher from her brother Henry while he was mining in the Dakota Territory (1874-1886). Included also are financial and legal papers, among them deeds to property in New Haven, Connecticut, memorabilia, and printed matter from various Catholic institutions in the United States and France.
