The papers contain correspondence with family, friends, and acquaintances, plus a variety of personal papers, including obituaries, letters of sympathy, diaries, and scrapbooks documenting the lives of Richard E. and Alice Lee Myers and their children. Prominent correspondents include Stephen Vincent Benét, Nadia Boulanger, Grace Flandrau, John Gielgud, Charlotte Kett, Archibald MacLeish, and Gerald Murphy.

Collection contains correspondence, writings and other materials by or related to Nancy Cunard. Correspondence includes letters from Cunard to Miriam J. Benkovitz (biographer and bibliographer of Ronald Firbank), Jinadasa Vijayatunga, and others, as well as letters to Cunard from John Robertson Scott. Writings include typescript and holograph poems and articles by Cunard, and translations of poems by "Geraldine" and Neftalí Beltrán. Also included is a typescript memoir about Cunard by Iris Tree entitled "We Shall Not Forget."

The papers of children's author and illustrator, Natalie Babbitt include correspondence, reviews, publicity, manuscripts, drafts, illustrations and finished artwork for sixteen books and several articles.

The Hawthorne collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, and personal papers documenting the life and work of Nathaniel Hawthorne.
Series I, Owen Franklin Aldis Gift, is organized into three subseries: Correspondence, Writings, and Other Papers. Correspondence consists of letters from Hawthorne to others, including the reverend George Ripley and the publisher Ticknor and Fields, as well as a third party letter from Hawthorne's son Julian. There is one corrected and bound holograph manuscript of Hawthorne's Doctor Grimshawe's Secret in the hand of Julian Hawthorne.
Series II, Norman Holmes Pearson Gift, is organized into three subseries: Correspondence, Writings, and Other Material. Hawthorne's outgoing correspondence is personal and professional in nature. Noteworthy correspondents include Hawthorne's daughter Una, English merchants Francis Bennoch and Henry Arthur Bright, Delia Bacon, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Franklin Pierce, Hiram Powers, and Charles Sumner. Incoming correspondence consists chiefly of letters from literary acquaintances, such as Mary Howitt, James Russell Lowell, Herman Melville, Donald Grant Mitchell, and William Wetmore Story. Writings includes several Hawthorne manuscripts and one holograph manuscript by Franklin Pierce. Other Material includes a commission for an armed ship bearing the signature of President John Adams.
Series III, Material from Other Sources, is organized into two subseries: Correspondence and Other Material. There are several letters from Hawthorne to others, including one to Horace Mann, and two engravings.

The Nelson Hayes papers contain correspondence, writings, journals, and other materials documenting the personal and professional life of author Nelson Hayes.

The Nina Wilcox Putnam papers contain writings, correspondence, and other materials documenting the life and work of feminist and author Nina Wilcox Putnam. Writings consists chiefly of drafts of short stories and essays dating from the 1930s onward. There are drafts of a few novels, possibly unpublished, and a number of treatments, but the collection does not include material relating to Putnam's longer published works, or her children's book Sunny Bunny (1917), dating from the first two decades of her literary career. Correspondence consists of a small number letters with editors, publishers, and others dating from the early 1950s. The largest file exists for The Reader's Digest, but there are also letters from Gilbert Roland, Frank Scully, and Gloria Swanson. In addition, there are carbons of several outgoing letters dating from 1953 relating to an article by Putnam on Guatemala. Other materials include lists of works by Putnam documenting titles by genre and publisher.

The collection contains artwork, notes, correspondence, photographs and other materials pertaining to Normand Chartier's illustrations of many of his children's books.
