The collection consists of material created and accumulated by Frederick Knott in the course of his activities as a playwright and screenwriter. Material includes drafts of scripts, production photographs, printed ephemera and audiovisual recordings. Writings include drafts of stage and film versions of Dial M for Murder, and photographs, contracts and other documentation of the film version directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Other material documents the writing and production of Wait Until Dark and Write Me a Murder. A small amount of student papers in Series III (Personal Papers) and writings dating from Knott's childhood document his early life.

The Galerie Jacques Benador Archive, which spans 1932-2015, contains writings, correspondence, exhibition catalogs, printed material, artworks, and other papers related to Jacques Benador, the D. Benador Gallery, and the Jacques Benador Gallery. Jacques Benador's personal papers—which include a large number of photographs--make up the bulk of the collection, documenting Benador's personal and professional relationships with artists and critics of the postwar European avant-garde, as well as events at both galleries he oversaw. Items of note in the collection include multiple manuscript versions of Lucio Fontana's first Spatialist Manifesto, signed first editions of Fontana's Manifesto Bianco in Italian and Spanish, original artwork by Pierre Alechinsky, Hans Bellmer, Max Ernst, Pierre Tal-Coat, Bram van de Velde, Wols, and others.

Cylinder recordings of Navajo Indian songs, probably complied by Geoffrey O'Hara, and lantern slides of Navajo Indians in Arizona, circa 1913-1914. The recordings consist chiefly of songs related to the Navajo Yeibichai ceremony. Singers include Robert Dayea, Shay Milford, and Miguelito (also known as Red Point). Lantern slides include informal portraits of Navajo men, women, and children in Fort Defiance and at the Hubbell Trading Post in Ganado. The collection also includes a portrait of O'Hara with Denver, a Shoshoni Indian man. Images include Navajo Indian ceremonies and dances, as well as foot and horse races. Images of Arizona include views of desert landscapes and arroyos with sheep and goats, as well as a view of the White House Ruins at Canyon de Chelly. Copy photographs in the collection include a portrait of Navajo Chief Manuelito, circa 1874, and illustrations of Navajo Yeibichai masks from Washington Matthews's anthopological study, Night Chant: A Navaho Ceremony (1902).

The collection documents George L. Kline's work as a translator for Joseph Brodsky and related activities, including the translation of other Russian prose and poetry and scholarship on Russian literature. Included are correspondence, drafts of Brodsky's poems and Kline's English translations, sound recordings of Brodsky, and photographs of Brodsky and others. Other than Brodsky, correspondents include W. H. Auden, Nina Berberova, Leonid Chertkov, Anthony Hecht, Lev Losev, Faith Wizgell and Igor Efimov. Manuscripts include signed typescripts of several of Brodsky's poems and typescript poems of Evgenii Rein inscribed to Joseph Brodsky. Among the sound recordings is a recording of Brodsky reciting his poems in 1968 in his Leningrad apartment, recorded by George Kline.

The collection contains materials documenting the artistic, professional, and personal activities of Gerard Malanga. Materials include correspondence, research and subject files, drafts and printed versions of writings, photographic materials, audiovisual materials, printed materials, and artwork. There is correspondence with publishers and editors, galleries and cultural organizations, writers, friends, and family. The research files and writings document work by Malanga and others. There are drafts, autograph manuscript and typescript, of a great many individual poems by Malanga and more extensive, though scattered files for collections of poems and other book-length projects, such as Ten Years After (1977), This Will Kill That (1983), Mythologies of the Heart (1996), and Scopophilia (1985). Materials can also be found for projects that relate to Malanga's work as a photograph archivist for the New York City Parks Department, including books on Robert Moses and public swimming facilities in the city. Photographic materials include negatives, contact sheets, and prints, and feature portraits of writers and artists, chiefly American poets, dating from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Audiovisual materials include audiocassettes, reel-to-reel sound recordings, and optical media, including readings and performances by Malanga and others. Printed materials include posters, issues of magazines, clippings, and ephemera.

(1951).
