The collection consists of correspondence, writings, notebooks, scrapbooks, photographs, printed materials, artwork, audiovisual materials, and digital media by or related to Richard Neville. The papers document Neville's career as a writer and counterculture leader, especially his work on the Sydney and London versions of the underground magazine Oz. Scrapbooks, correspondence, transcripts, writings, and other papers document Neville's obscenity trials in Australia and England and later dramatizations of the trials. Writings also document Neville's later work for publications such as Rolling Stone. Photographs and papers document Neville's family and childhood in Australia. The collection also includes artwork and other papers relating to Oz art director Martin Sharp.

Included are drafts of such works as Black Boy and Native Son, photographs of trips to Spain and Ghana, various items of personal memorabilia such as Wright's Spingarn Medal, and a film of Wright's screen test for the movie version of "Native Son".

The collection includes drafts of writings, correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, clippings, drawings, diaries, and audio recordings documenting the life and work of the American writer Robert Nathan. Drafts of Nathan's writings make up the bulk of the collection, and include novels, screenplays, short fiction and prose, speeches, and poetry; the writings include story ideas, or "false starts," that Nathan did not publish. Correspondence and other papers document his family relationships, in particular that with his sister Marian Kraus Sandor. Other major correspondents include Stephen Vincent Bene?t, Herbert Feis, Lawrence Kubie, Dan H. Laurence, and Marjorie Bitker. The collection also documents an exhibition of Nathan's work in the Yale University Library in 1962.

The papers consist of correspondence, writings, printed material, photographs, audiovisual material, and personal papers that document the life and work of playwright, editor, and activist Ron Whyte (circa 1942-1989). The largest series, Writings, includes drafts and circulating versions of dozens of works of drama and prose by Ron Whyte, including many unproduced plays. The documentation of Whyte's writings also includes material from his time as a student, spanning from high school to graduate study at the Yale School of Drama and the Union Theological Seminary. The papers also include a substantial quantity of audio recordings of dramatic works written or produced by Whyte. Other material, including subject files and unsorted papers, documents the varied and prolific career of Whyte, including his advocacy for people with disabilities.

Writings contain typescript drafts, typescript photocopies, printed versions, and photocopies of printed versions of Jespersen's poetry, prose, a teleplay, and a screenplay. Two audiocassettes contain Jespersen reading The Blink of an Eye, a screenplay written by Jespersen and Michael O'Rourke. The Ruth Stephan Papers consist of correspondence, writings, research files, audiovisual material, photographs, and diaries and other personal papers documenting the career and life of the twentieth-century American writer, editor, and translator Ruth Stephan. Correspondence and subject files provide evidence of Stephan's professional and personal relationships as well as her wide-ranging interests, from art to Zen Buddhism. Stephan's creative work consists of drafts, notes, and research files for poetry, historical and autobiographical fiction, anthologies, and film; her research files on Queen Christina of Sweden are extensive. Her travels in and creative work related to Europe, Peru, Japan, China, and India are documented throughout the collection by writings, diaries and engagement calendars, photographs, film, sound recordings, and correspondence. The papers also include a small amount of material documenting the history of the Walgreens drugstore chain.
