Correspondence of Allen Johnson concerning his editorship of the Chronicles of America Series, consisting of incoming typed and autograph letters, signed, and outgoing typescript carbons, 1916-1920. Correspondents include historians Max Ferrand, Yale University, and Nathaniel Stephenson, College of Charleston, and other authors of volumes in the Chronicles of America Series; United States Publishers' Association founders Robert Pollock Glasgow and Arthur H. Brook, Gerhard Richard Lomer, and other staff of the United States Publishers' Association; and George Parmly Day, president, and other staff of Yale University Press. Also present are memoranda and financial accounts concerning publication of the Chronicles of America Series; and correspondence about publication of Johnson's Stephen A. Douglas: A Study in American Politics (New York: The Macmillan Company, 1908), 1907-1916.

Papers include correspondence, photographs, writings and other materials by or relating to Allen Tanner, and particularly concerning his relationship with Pavel Tchelitchew. Correspondence consists of letters to Tanner, among them letters from René Crevel, Pavel Tchelitchew, Virgil Thomson, and Alexandra Zaoussailoff. Also included are several letters from Tanner to John Torson, and one letter from Lincoln Kirstein and one brief postcard from Edith Sitwell, both to Tchelitchew. Writings include holographs and typescripts by Tanner and unidentified writers, generally concerning Tchelitchew, as well as Tanner's life in the 1920's in New York and Paris. Among the photographs are pictures of Tanner and Tchelitchew. Additional materials includes printed items and other materials primarily concerning Tanner and Tchelitchew.

The papers contain correspondence and other papers documenting Alonzo Hill's voyage to California, experiences in the gold fields, San Francisco, and Sacramento.

Letters from Daudet to Henry Ceard (mentions Emile Zola and Alfred de Vigny), Estes and Lauriat, and Paul Ginisty of Odeon Theater, among others. Also includes a bound manuscript volume, partly in Daudet's handwriting and signed by him, entitled "Histoire de mes livres I. Fromont jeune et risler aîné."

The Altagor Papers, which span from 1930-2009, contain correspondence, personal papers, writings, artwork, printed material, objects, records, audio tapes, and other papers by or relating to the artist Altagor, also known as Andre Vernier.

The papers in this collection document the work of Alyce Batchelder as well as the correspondence and writings of George Grebenstchikoff (in Russian, Georgii Grebenshchikov). Alyce Batchelder's correspondence documents her work as literary executor for the George Grebenstchikoff estate after Grebenschikoff's death. George Grebenstchikoff's papers include professional correspondence and a collection of Russian medals. Correspondents include Dmitri Alexandrow, Pearl S. Buck (letters related to the Russian writer Ivan Bunin), Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, George Sabo, Igor Sikorsky and Maurice J. and Lilli Swetland. The collection also contains a few early letters to George Grebenstchikoff's wife Tatiana that date from the years before her emigration to the United States. Realia in the collection include Russian military and religious medals.

The collection consists chiefly of correspondence, with smaller amounts of diaries, writings, notebooks, artworks, photographs, and other personal papers. Also present are papers of others closely associated with Gregory, including papers of Llewelyn Powys; writings of John Cowper Powys and Edna St. Vincent Millay; and diaries of Gertrude Powys. Accompanying these is a small amount of correspondence and notes of Rosemary Manning, concerning Gregory's papers.

Correspondence, accounts, receipts, checks, printed currency, circular letters, printed forms filled out in manuscript, and other printed material related to American finance, currency and lotteries during and after the Revolutionary War. Series I, Currency and Public Debt Documents, includes letters by Jacques-Pierre Brissot de Warville; Albert Gallatin; John Gibson; Alexander Hamilton; Gouverneur Morris; Robert Morris, and Thomas Willing. There is a small group of letters between Gouverneur Morris and the London bankers Sir Francis Baring, Edmund Boehm, and Thomas Henchman concerning their possible investment in the "new American funds" in 1790 and 1791. Printed material includes Thomas Paine's Decline and Fall of the English System of Finance (Philadelphia, 1796) as well as circular letters and debt payment tables. Other contents include reports on Revolutionary War loans and other contemporary financial matters; receipts issued by several states, particularly Connecticut and Massachusetts, between 1780 and 1789; and samples of state and Continental Congress paper money. Series II, United States Lottery Documents, contains letters by state agents for the Continental Lottery; accounts and account logs for the lottery; memoranda; and a printed lottery ticket from 1779.

The scrapbooks provide evidence of the personal and professional life of Amos Gerry Beman, pastor and social activist, between 1830 and 1858. The scrapbooks contain writings, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and printed ephemera by and about Beman. Scrapboks I and II consist of clippings of Beman's letters to the editor and articles by Beman, in addition to newspaper clippings of articles, poetry, and other clippings of interest to Beman. Scrapbook III contains letters of recommendation, journal entries written by Beman in 1838 while living in Hartford, Connecticut, certificates and correspondence pertaining to the founding of the Temple Street African Church in New Haven, Connecticut, deeds, receipts, and other material. Scrapbook IV consists of articles of interest to Beman as well as an articles on the "Colored Men's Convention" (1849) that mentions Beman's role in the convention. The scrapbooks are a window into Beman's work as a teacher, pastor, and social activist in Connecticut during the nineteenth-century, and more broadly, the Temple Street African Church and the African-American community it served in New Haven at this time.
