The series contains correspondence, notes, and other writings by Jonathan Edwards and members of his family. A few letters from others outside the family are present, including contemporary theologians and commnunity members. Throughout are later manuscript copies created by Edwards descendants, chiefly his great-grandson Sereno Edwards Dwight. In most cases the original is also present in the collection. The copies are dated, as they were in the finding aid received with the collection, for the content of the original rather than the creation of the copy.
