These butterflies are known as New World butterflies, which means they are found in the Americas. Both are tropical species, with Siphroeta epaphus being found from southern North America to central South America and Diaethria clymena found from Mexico to Peru. These butterflies were raised by a butterfly farm in South Carolina and were not killed for the purposes of taxidermy. They were then purchased and brought up to Connecticut. They are common butterflies.
