An address to the Connecticut Medical Convention in 1853 by its ex-president, Rufus Blakeman, M.D. In his address he offers biographical sketches of early physicians. He refers to an earlier address by his predecessor, Dr. Sumner, which discussed some of the more eminent early physicians of Connecticut. Dr. Blakeman notes that it his his purpose to note those "who, if less distinguished by general fame, were perhaps of equal usefulness in the dispensationof the simple duties of the medical profession."
