Abstract

This house was built in 1867 -1868 for the daughter of Philo Wood , Mary E. , who married William Crofut of Redding in 1845. The house was built on the 6 acre lot she inherited. Katherine F. Schwab, who was the daughter of John C. Schwab a Yale University professor and Yale Librarian from 1905 - 1916, bought the property in 1941 and used a building on the property as an art studio. She was active in the League of Women Voters in Connecticut and the Long Ridge Woman's Club
