In 1861 a group of 3 month volunteers assembled at a saloon and resolved to remove a "peace flag" flying from the top of a hill near Danbury. Additionally, there is a patriotic song sang at a picnic at the Oak College grove, and a period description of Lover's Leap (August 12, 1861).
