Originally written in 1866 as "Four Years of Fighting" and revised and published in 1896 as "The Boys of '61", this book is an account of the author's experiences as a war correspondent for the Boston Journal in the eastern theater of the Civil War.
Charles Carleton Coffin (July 26, 1823 – March 2, 1896) was an American journalist, Civil War correspondent, author and politician. Coffin was one of the best-known newspaper correspondents of the American Civil War. He has been called "the Ernie Pyle of his era," and a biographer, W.E. Griffis, referred to him as "a soldier of the pen and knight of the truth."<br /><br /><a title="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Carleton_Coffin" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Carleton_Coffin">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Carleton_Coffin</a>
