Abstract
A summary of the resource.
Item in good condition.
Albert Edward Cloutier was a Canadian painter and graphic designer who worked in oils, water colors, tempera, clay, wood and metals. His paintings mainly depict the beauty of Canadian landscapes. His early paintings showed the influence of the French Impressionists, the Group of Seven and Paul Cézanne. His later work was an intensified realism, with increasingly abstract and plastic forms. Cloutier followed the French Canadian tradition of showing settled farm landscapes and avoided modernism. Cloutier was an official war artist with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He was the only francophone war artist. His pictures included training aircraft and flying boats.

Abstract
A summary of the resource.
Item in good condition.
Jack Coughlin is an artist of Irish-American heritage who is best known for his portraits of literary figures and musicians. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, Coughlin studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League of New York. Although Coughlin’s education coincided with the heyday of Abstract Expressionism, he has always been drawn to figurative traditions in European and American art. However, in prints and drawings from the 1960s to the present, he has also pursued a vein of imagery that is much less naturalistic and that explores a range of sources, from the anatomical drawings of George Stubbs to the grotesque hybrids of European printmakers like Francisco Goya and Martin Schongauer. In many metamorphic, dream like images, absurd and mysterious juxtapositions of the human and animal join in an irrational evolutionary journey.

Ossi Czinner was a contemporary painter, sculptor and lithographer, Ossi Czinner studied under Marcello Mascherini in Rome in 1946. After completion of her studies she remained in that city and began exhibiting her art there. During the following years Czinner's art (particularly her lithographs) were regularly exhibited in such cities as Paris, Vienna, Milan, Tokyo, Chicago and New York. A large portion of Czinner's lithographic art concentrates upon depictions and often whimsical impressions of Italy's more famous cities. Most of her original lithographs have been printed in editions ranging from 10 to 200 impressions. Firenza (Florence) is a large and impressive example of Czinner's cityscape art.
