GREGORIAN CHANT NOTATION

The musical style of the WCSU Manuscript is what is known as Gregorian Notation. Beginning in Europe in the 9th and 10th centuries it soon became the common style of liturgical texts across the continent. The simplest form of notation is known as a Neume, similar to the modern note. From here one can arrange neumes in a massive variety of arrangements to accompany the words of the prayers.
